For years, Downtown Cape had been represented by an aging identity system, tying it closely to the Mississippi River and its historic reputation. We aimed to recreate the brand by developing a mark that was both a nod to the geographic location and a all-inclusive representation of a diverse and growing area.
The logo was inspired by the geographic position of the downtown district. The arrangement of streets and proximity to the Mississippi River resulted in the “Downtown Frame,” a mark that represents the historic brick front architecture, river border and encompassing nature of a vibrant and diverse downtown.
The Frame allows Cape to highlight the people, food, entertainment and history of the downtown district, while maintaining the brand in all applications.
